Khalid Khan grabs five wickets as LSW defeat Scorpions while Shane Sibraa's century helps Optimists thrash Pakistan Association

Khalid Khan's third five wicket haul of the season allowed Little Sai Wan to cement their position at the head of the Sunday League points table after securing victory over Scorpions. In other Sunday League action, Shane Sibraa smashed a century as Optimists routed Pakistan Association by 177 runs. On Saturday, Ian Beck hit an unbeaten century for Lamma while Mohsan Khan claimed six wickets in a losing effort for Mainlanders. In the Women's League, Florenda Madriaga claimed six wickets for Lamma.
2006-07 HKCA Saturday League
Five matches were played in round six of the HKCA Saturday League in generally fine conditions on 14th October 2006.
At Mission Road, Gap Ramblers finally got their season underway as they scored a resounding victory over Mainlanders by 167 runs. Batting first, Gap Ramblers piled on 280 runs in their 35 overs with Jeremy Collard (62), Chris Gillard (95) and Charles Wood (36) making the major contributions while Mohsan Khan grabbed the impressive figures of 6-58 for Mainlanders. In reply, Mainlanders were dismissed for 113 with J Young claiming four wickets and Craig Phillis three.
Over at Po Kong Village Road, Tartars suffered a four-wicket loss to SCC Vampires on the number 1 ground. Tartars score 181-9 when batting first with Roshan top scoring. S Banarjee did the damage claiming four wickets for 26 runs. Banarjee completed a happy day by hitting 66 runs and SCC Vampires cruised to their target for the loos of six wickets. Chandrasekhar also scored 44 for the Vampires.
On the other ground, Lamma belted a whopping 329-3 against Laguna Gully with Ian Beck hitting 110 not out. He was ably supported by Brad Tarr and Tauseef Bukhari who hit 70 and 88 runs respectively. In reply, Laguna Gully was dismissed for 163 with S Mehta and V Dheer both hitting thirties while John Gaffney picked up four wickets for Lamma.
Police scored their first victory of the season when they beat Saracens by 4 wickets at the Police Training College. Saracens batted first but were bailed out for just 105 as Amarjeet Singh snatched 4-11. Nasir Hameed lead the Police chase with an undefeated 45 whilst K Parwani nabbed three wickets for Saracens.
In the last match of the day, Witherers scored a 72-run victory over Hong Kong Under-19s. Unfortunately no details from that match are available.

Two key match-ups between LSW v. Scorpions and Optimists v. Pakistan Association were the highlights of round 6 of the Sunday League, played in overcast conditions on 15th October 2006.
At Hong Kong Cricket Club, Optimists made the most of their home ground advantage by whipping Pakistan Association by 177 runs. Batting first, Optimists posted an impressive total of 329 from their 50 overs with Shane Sibraa hitting his first century of the season, while Ben Hart and Steve Campbell also posted half-centuries. Jamshaid Khan and Tahir Khan claimed three wickets apiece for Pakistan Association. The Pakistan Association reply was aggressive and they kept up with the required run-rate throughout their innings. Unfortunately they kept losing wickets at regularly intervals and were eventually dismissed for 152 in 31.2 overs. Jamshaid Khan top scored for Pakistan Association while Jason Kardachi claimed three wickets for Optimists.
Little Sai Wan made a break on the rest of the field as they beat Scorpions by 45 runs in a low scoring match played at Mission Road. LSW batted first but were dismissed for 160 in 41.3 overs with Luke Rewega grabbing four wickets. But a five wicket burst from Khlaid Khan, his third this season already, stymied the Scorpions chase and the HKCC team could only muster 115 runs in 39.2 overs. Phil Pemberton was the only Scorpions' batsman to master the bowling as made a valiant 40.
At Po Kong Village Road, HKCC Wanderers savoured their second victory of the season as they beat Sri Lanka Club by six wickets. Sri Lanka Club batted first and scored 152 from 35.3 overs with Nilandha top scoring with 51 . Michael Jamieson claimed four wickets for Wanderers while Hugo Davison claimed three. In reply, Steve Snell smote 65 in quick order as Wanderers knocked off the required runs in 22.2 overs for the loss of four wickets.

2006-07 HKCA Skitz Sports Bar Women's Cricket League
Lamma CC moved to the top of the HKCA Skitz Sports Bar Women's Cricket League as they beat HKCC Cavaliers in a match played at the Po Kong Village Road number 2 ground.
The HKCC Cavaliers batted first but were dismissed for just 77 runs with Florenda Madriaga grabbing 6-19. Only Angela Kwan provided much resistance with an unbeaten 24. In reply, Emma Philips scored 22 not out as Lamma eased to a comfortable seven victory.
