S.E.C.A. launches School Boy's Competition

The English Cricket competition for secondary school boys finally got under way on Thursday 17th October

The English Cricket competition for secondary school boys finally got under way on Thursday 17th October.
It started with a short opening ceremony . A opening prayer by Rev Niutea Simanu followed by the official opening by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the honorable Ulu Vaomalo Ulu Kini. The ceremony concluded with a few words from the Sponsors of the competition "Shell Oil" by its local representative Mr Klaus Stunzner.
This competition will be known as the Shell School Boys Trophy.
First round of matches had Maluafou College up against Leiifiifi College and Robert Loius Stevenson School versus Faleata Senior Secondary School. Samoa College had a bye.
MaluaFou College vs Leiifiifi College
Maluafou won the toss and elected to bat first. They made 51 runs and were all out off 13.5 overs.
Batting highlights for Maluafou was Esau who made 12 runs. Bowling highlights for Leiifiifi was Siaologa who bowled five overs got six wickets for 17 runs, thus becoming the first player to have a five wicket haul for the tournament.
Leiifiifi than gave chase and only managed 45 runs all out off 13 overs. Batting highlights for Leiifiifi were Muliaina who scored 12 runs and Wayne 10 runs. Bowling highlight for Maluafou were Tupe bowled five overs got four wickets for 23 runs and Aiomalaga bowled two overs got four wickets for 2 runs. Aiomalaga also took three catches.
Result win to Maluafou College by 6 runs. Man of the match award goes to Aiomalaga of Maluafou College.
Robert Louis Stevenson School vs Faleata Senior Secondary School
Faleata won the toss and elected to bat first, they scored 100 runs off 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets.
Batting higlights for Faleata, Pritchard made 29 runs (including two sixes) and Faamau who scored 27 runs. Bowling highlights for Robert Lois was JP Stunzner bowled three overs got three wickets for 13 runs and Lance Laulala one over got two wickets for 7 runs.
Robert Louis gave chase and managed only 51 runs for the loss o 9 wickets off 20 overs. Batting highlight for RLSS was Michael who scored 9 runs. Best bowling for Faleata Muaau 5 overs , 4 wickets for 21 runs and Falaniko 5 overs, 3 wickets for 12 runs
Result win to Faleata by 49 runs. Man of the match Pritchard of Faleata Senior Secondary School.
Round Two will be played on Tuesday 22nd October. Games begin at 2.00PM.
